Cisco, Chongqing Municipal Government Sign MoU

US-based Cisco announced on September 12 that the company has signed a MoU (Memorandum of Understanding) with the Chongqing municipal government, whereby they will form a strategic alliance, the Sina Tech News reported on September 13. Through the tie-up, they will collaborate in several areas, including the manufacture of communications products, the R&D and development in green technologies, and the deployment of Smart + Connected Buildings solution developed by Cisco, with an aim to achieve Smart-Connected Communities in Chongqing. The investment is expected to create 100,000 jobs, according to the same source. Aside from Cisco, HP and Foxconn separately entered into a similar agreement with the said government. Further details regarding the value of the deal, however, were not yet disclosed.
